About the role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced 3rd Line Engineer to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for resolving 3rd line support issues, ensuring the stability and performance of IT systems and networks, and collaborating closely with the wider IT support team. Additionally, the role involves maintaining, optimizing, and managing key monitoring platforms, including N-able N-central, N-sight, and ManageEngine Site24x7.
What will you bring?
3rd Line Support:
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues escalated from 1st and 2nd line support teams.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members on technical matters.
- Perform root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues and implement long-term fixes.
Monitoring Platforms Management:
- Configure, maintain, and optimize monitoring platforms such as N-able N-central, N-sight, and ManageEngine Site24x7 to ensure continuous service availability and performance.
- Develop and implement monitoring rules, alerts, and dashboards tailored to business needs.
- Analyse monitoring data to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
- Design and implement automation / scripts to resolve issues before they become a problem.
System Maintenance and Optimisation:
- Deliver, patching, and configuration changes to client systems.
- Ensure the stability, security, and compliance of systems under your purview.
- Collaborate with other teams to implement changes and upgrades with minimal disruption to operations.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of troubleshooting steps, configurations, and changes.
- Generate detailed reports on system performance, incidents, and resolutions.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Act as a point of contact for escalated issues and critical incidents.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience in a 3rd Line Engineer role or minimum of 2 years served in a 2nd line role.
- Strong expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring platforms, particularly N-able N-central, N-sight, and ManageEngine Site24x7.
- Proficiency in managing and maintaining Windows based systems.
- Knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and troubleshooting (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, VPN).
- Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell) is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive problem-solving attitude.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA, ITIL) are highly desirable.
