About the role

As an Upgrade Developer for Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, you will continuously monitor the upcoming Microsoft releases, with special attention to key technical changes in the product. You will be working with other members of the Evergreen upgrade team to periodically review customers' code base and compatibility with upcoming versions. 

You will be required to prepare test environments both on SaaS and On Premise instances and upgrade these environments to the upcoming version. The role will expect effective support of customers during their User Acceptance phase, as well as with any potential issues following live upgrade. An excellent line of communication must be upheld at all times with team members and clients to ensure the highest level of customer service. 

The ideal candidate for this role will be an approachable and pro-active problem solver with a good understanding of Microsoft Dynamics NAV/Business Central and related products.  

Role responsibilities

• Periodically review customer codebases for compatibility with upcoming Business Central versions.
• Identify, document, and prepare fixes for breaking changes and deprecation warnings.
• Prepare and manage test environments on both SaaS and On-Premise instances.
• Perform test upgrades to upcoming versions of Business Central.
• Work with Microsoft Admin Centre for SaaS environment configurations.
• Handle On-Premise setup:
  • Backup and restore databases.
  • Install Business Central.
  • Set up and connect service instances.
  • Script and run database update routines.
• Create and maintain:
  • Release Notes following test upgrades.
  • Closure Documentation after live upgrades.
• Adhere to company and team standards for:
  • Source code management.
  • Documentation practices.
  • Extensions management.
• Provide support during:
  • Customer User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Post-live upgrade phases.
• Maintain excellent communication with both team members and clients.
• Deliver high-quality customer service and timely issue resolution.
• Demonstrate strong work ethic and a proactive, approachable attitude with strong problem-solving skills
